Family Fun Events were held at the Dumyat Centre in Menstrie over weekend, 1st and 2nd June as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and the start of the Menstrie Gala Week.

Clackmannanshire Council's Provost Tina Murphy said: "Over the two days visitors were able to visit the Dumyat Centre and see the special exhibition we have set up to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with an exhibition of "Clackmannanshire Then and Now" over the past 60 years."

Organised by and Menstrie Community Council and Clackmannanshire Council, all the fun kicked off on Friday, 1st June and continued on the following day.

On the Friday evening the library services offered younger visitors the chance to join in with badge making, crafts and giant games such as snakes and ladders, Jenga and Connect 4. Refreshments were also be provided.

On Saturday visitors to the centre were able to enjoy a tea, coffee and home baking stall provided by the Community Council, as well as a variety of Come and Try Sports events for all ages provided by Sport Development. Children also had the chance to take part in crafts, badge making and face painting.

Entry to the centre over both days was free and participants were also be given the opportunity to take part in a free draw to win some prizes.

People in Menstrie who have visited the Dumyat Centre recently will have noticed a huge difference in facilities following extensive refurbishments, with new book stock, a better children's area and more comfortable seating for the public to enjoy reading a daily newspaper.

The Provost added: "It was a marvellous two days and we were delighted how well supported it was and as well as the chance to see a tremendous exhibition, visitors were also able to see the outstanding refurbishments which have been carried out at the centre."

The ribbon to officially re-open the Dumyat Centre, following the refurbishments, was cut by Erin McNeil.
