Provost Tina Murphy is looking forward to welcoming members of the local community to join her to mark Armed Forces Day in Alloa on Wednesday 27th June.
Army Cadets of the Clackmannan Company of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, Air Cadets of the 383 Squadron of the Ari Training Corps, Dollar Combined Cadets Force (CCF) and veterans will arrive at Alloa Town Hall at 10.30am.
They will be joined by dignitaries and guests at the Town Hall. A parade will then take place at 11am, which will march onto Marshill and halt in front of the Town Hall to mark the occasion.
The Parade will form up ready for inspection by the Lord-Lieutenant, the Rt Hon George Reid accompanied by Provost Murphy, before the flag raising ceremony takes place.
Piper, Cadet Lance Corporal Andrew Cunningham will take up his post at the flagpole in preparation for the welcome speech by Provost Murphy. The Armed Forces Flag will be raised accompanied by the piper playing the Royal Salute.
Provost Murphy said: "Here in Clackmannanshire we are extremely proud of our military links and Armed Forces Day is a special opportunity to honour those men and women who make huge personal sacrifices to defend the UK.
"I will be especially pleased to welcome local veterans along to the flag raising ceremony, as well as all the other dignitaries attending and members of our local high schools."
Following a speech from the Provost all guests will be invited into the Town Hall for a reception, while the Commanding Officer will request permission to March Off the parade.
During the reception in the Town Hall, there will also be a speech from the Lord-Lieutenant.
Lord-Lieutenant, the Rt. Hon. George Reid, said: "Maintaining close links with the armed forces is one of my main responsibilities as the Lord-Lieutenant for Clackmannanshire.
"The men and women of our armed services put their lives at risk for the sake of a safer and more peaceful world. I hope that as many local people as possible come out on Armed Forces Day and take the time to welcome the soldiers and show our support for what they do for us"
The Council would like to emphasise that Marshill will be closed on that day from 11am until 12 noon and access to Church Street and Earl of Mar Court will also be restricted.
