Provost Tina Murphy this week led the tributes to Clackmannanshire's newest sporting hero.

Bowler Steven Allan, 26, from Alloa won the new WIBC World Indoor Singles title in South Wales on Friday after battling through a high-quality final against Guernsey's Gary Pitschou to take the crown 6-6, 11-2.

Provost Murphy said: "I would like to warmly congratulate Steven on his marvellous victory. We are all very proud of his outstanding achievement and bringing a world title to Clackmannanshire."

After winning the WIBC Under-25 Junior title in 2010, Steven sits alongside Arbroath's Darren Burnett as the only two players ever to have won both the junior and senior titles.
