Clackmannanshire Council will again lead tributes to commemorate International Workers' Memorial Day at the end of the month.
Workers' Memorial Day is an international day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell by their work. It is held on 28th April every year. It is an opportunity to highlight the preventable nature of most workplace accidents and ill health, and to support campaigns that promote improvements in workplace safety.
A memorial was unveiled outside Greenfield House three years ago and this year's commemoration will take place at the memorial, where a wreath will be laid at 11am by Provost Tina Murphy and Trades Union representative Pamela Robertson of Unison.
The Provost will deliver a speech before inviting Chief Executive Elaine McPherson to speak. There will also be a speech from Trades Union representative, Pamela Robertson. This will be followed by be a minutes' silence and the flags at Alloa Town Hall will be lowered to half mast as a mark of respect.
