A group of Hillfoots primary schools are to take part in a torch relay this Friday, 16th March, as part of their transition into secondary education.
The relay, along Hillfoots, will start at the same time at 10am at Menstrie Primary School, Alva PS, Muckhart PS, Strathdevon, PS, Tillicoultry PS, and Coalsnaughton PS, where pupils will run with the torches, specially made and designed by schoolchildren at Alva Academy.
They will move along the route before handing over the torch to pupils of the respective schools towards Alva Academy, arriving at around 12.30pm.
It is expected between 180 and 190 pupils from the six primary schools will take part in the relay, marking the end of their primary school days and the start of their education at Alva Academy.
Craig Rennie, head teacher at Alva Primary School, said: "We are encouraging friends and family of the children to come out and support them and cheer them on. It should be a tremendous event. All we hope for is good weather."
