People in Clackmannanshire are being urged to enter their local schools, nurseries or individuals into the Scottish Education Awards 2012 so that their exceptional achievements can be recognised. The deadline for submissions is Friday 2 March 2012.
The awards, which celebrate the achievements of schools and teachers across Scotland, have attracted hundreds of nominations so far but many more schools and individuals are worthy of acknowledgment.
Last year, Jane Edwards won the award for Educational Supporter of the Year for her commitment to providing the pupils of Strathdevon Primary School with learning opportunities outside the classroom.
Councillor Mark English, Inclusion Portfolio Holder for Clackmannanshire Council said: "Last year, two Clackmannanshire nominees were finalists at these prestigious awards and I would like to see that recognition repeated this year. In Clackmannanshire, we work hard to make sure schools are part of the community, supporting happy, active and creative students. These Awards are a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate the hard work, innovation and excellent standards that our schools, teachers, head teachers and school communities exemplify.
"I know that people across Clackmannanshire will get behind this campaign and I have every confidence that there will be no shortage of nominations for our schools and individual members of staff to achieve further recognition in the Scottish Education Awards 2012."
The Scottish Education Awards are open to all publicly funded schools, including secondary, primary, nursery and special schools. There are also categories to recognise and reward the dedication of teachers, head-teachers and support staff across the country.
Nominations are currently being invited from across all 17 categories including Teacher of the Year, Global Citizenship, Literacy and Numeracy across Learning and Sustainable Schools.
