Over £8.65 million will be invested in Clackmannanshire's Council housing during the forthcoming financial year.

The housing capital programme was agreed at today's meeting of the Council. Councillors also agreed a rent rise increase of 6.8% for 2012/13.

The rise means that the average rent in Clackmannanshire is still under £60.

The council's ongoing investment means that 85% of our houses currently meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.

The capital programme includes disabled adaptations and conversions which enable people with particular needs to remain in their homes. The programme also includes the construction of 25 new houses at Hallpark, Sauchie as well as the investment in 24 new houses in Tullibody and Alva.

Councillor Eddie Carrick, Sustainability Portfolio Holder, said: "This rent rise will allow us to continue to bring real benefits to our existing tenants. We will invest over £18 million over the next three years, ensuring that we will reach our commitment of delivering the Scottish Housing Quality Standard, and the enhanced Clackmannanshire Standard, by 2015."
