Having completed a substantial information gathering exercise, the Council is now preparing to publish the feedback collected. It will be available online in the week beginning 12 September.
A significant amount of information has been gathered from current and potential users alike. The consultation began with the Council writing to community groups and facility users in the spring, and ended with a successful open day at the former family centre building, proposed as a new community hub. The new hub brings together a number of services under one roof including a new, modern library with an information and service point, plus meeting rooms and space for the community to run its own groups and activities.
103 residents gave their views at the open day on Saturday 27 August, with many more attending to look round the building. Hundreds of library users, community centre users and other individuals have also given their comments. Street surveys were also used to gathered feedback from the broader public.
Council Leader, Councillor Sam Ovens, said: "I'm delighted that so many people were able to come and see what will be the new community hub for Tillicoultry. We've had lots of suggestions about the facilities on offer and ideas from individuals and groups about how they might use the space. I'd particularly like to thank Tillicoultry Action Group, who worked with us to promote the event and delivered 2,500 fliers on our behalf to local residents."
An additional event has been arranged for young people (aged 9 to 25) to view around the community hub on Wednesday 7 September from 4pm to 6pm. This will give youth club users and other young residents the chance to see how the space can work for their activities and groups. All the feedback is being used to inform how the new centre is being is designed and we will continue to work with all individuals and group to ensure the new facility meets their requirements.
