Have your say on new secondary schools

We're always trying to improve our buildings to make sure they're as suitable as possible for the services we offer. To help with this, we need to know what you think of our three new secondary schools, so we're carrying out a post-occupancy survey.

Portfolio holder for sustainability, Councillor Eddie Carrick, explains: "We're looking for opinions from all types of schools users: pupils and teachers, certainly, but also parents, customers who use the sports and other facilities and staff who work in cleaning or catering in the buildings. The idea is that we can learn what works well and improve any areas that need it."

The survey itself is quick and easy for participants to complete online, and all results are anonymous. Go to the Council website, ClacksWeb.org.uk, or any of the three school websites to fill it in. The deadline for completing the survey is Wednesday 20th July 2011.

Notes for editors

Post occupancy evaluation is a tool to be used for improving the preparation of investment appraisals, project briefs, and the operational management of facilities. The principal benefits highlighted in the guidance published by the Scottish Executive include:

  • Fine tuning and evaluating existing buildings
  • Improving the design of future buildings
  • Demonstrating best value
  • Building stakeholder commitment.
