Jim Thompson, founder of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) in America, is visiting Clackmannanshire this week as the guest of the Winning Scotland Foundation. Clackmannanshire is the only county piloting the positive coaching approach across the whole council area and the only pilot that Jim will be visiting.

Clackmannanshire Council works with Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS), which follows all the principles of PCA. The three main principles are:

- Showing that performing well and improving are as important as winning
- Finding aspects that young people of all levels can excel at
- Respect and sportsmanship

Jim will be meeting primary school head teachers, coaches and some of the young people taking part in the pilot. He will end his visit at on 28 September at 4pm at Alloa Academy, by presenting Sports Leader UK certificates to some of the youngsters. You are invited to send a photographer.

Spokesperson for Sport and Leisure Councillor Bobby McGill said, "We are delighted that Jim has been able to include a return visit to Clackmannanshire in what is a very busy schedule of meetings. Clackmannanshire has a strong sports programme in place which fits in perfectly with the positive coaching message of respect and improvement through application."
