A generous local hairdresser has raised over a thousand pounds for a good cause when she walked the West Highland Way.

A cheque for £1549.30 will be presented to the Friends of the Whins next week by Michelle Short. She walked the 96 miles from Glasgow to Fort William over a week and raised the money through sponsorship.

The cheque presentation takes place at the Whins Resource Centre, Alloa, at 2.30pm on Monday 13th September. You are invited to send a photographer.

Michelle's mum Harriet attends the retirement group at the Whins Resource Centre, which is the Council's base for Adult Day Services.

The Friends of the Whins has a fund which is in the control of service users and is usually spent on 'little extras' which make the Whins experience more fun and pleasurable for service users. It can be used to purchase items such as computer games which cannot normally be purchased out of the core Council budget.
