The Clackmannanshire Secondary Schools Indoor Athletics Giant Heptathlon took place at Grangemouth Stadium on Thursday 26th March between the three local secondary schools.

The event involved a morning of training at seven different events that included hurdles, triple jump and javelin. Then in the afternoon all the athletes competed at the seven different disciplines scoring points for themselves and for their school. Throughout the events all the athletes encouraged each other to do their best and they produced some great performances and highly competitive finishes.

Alison Ramsey, Alloa Academy PE teacher, said: "The event was really well organised by Active Schools, the three local Secondary Schools and Clackmannanshire's Sports Development Team. As a result many aspiring young people enjoyed participating in the Giant Heptathlon event. Well done to all those involved - the athletes, the Secondary PE teachers, and the volunteers and coaches for making the event such a success."

Ryan Martin, Sport Development Officer added: "I was so impressed by the standard of performance. The participants' determination and drive shown throughout each event was there for all to see. All the pupils appeared to be enjoying a really positive experience and personally I thought that there was a lot of promising potential on show and I hope they will continue to develop as athletes."
