Clackmannanshire Council's Countryside Rangers Service offers a programme of events open to people of all ages throughout the year.

Whatever your interests there will be something here for you - all you need is a sense of adventure and an enthusiasm for Clackmannanshire's beautiful countryside.

From a doggy ramble and pond dipping to a mini-beast hunt and a walk on the wild side are just some of the exciting events highlighted in a new leaflet produced by Clackmannanshire Council.

The leaflet - Ranger Events and Walks 2009 - is being launched at Greenfield Park, Alloa, at 4pm on Friday 3rd April by Councillor Eddie Carrick, sustainability portfolio holder. You are invited to send a photographer.

The leaflets contains details about a number of Work Days which are a fantastic opportunity to improve your fitness, meet new people and give something back to your local environment. Work Day activities range from cutting back overgrown plants and rhody bashing to tree planting and nest/bat box building. Safety equipment and advice will be provided - all you need is appropriate clothing and enthusiasm.

The Rangers are also repeating last year's hugely popular 'Family Camp Out'. Many people's only experience of camping is a busy and noisy campsite - hardly getting away from it all! Wild camping is poles apart and with this in mind the Countryside Rangers have organised this event where five local families can experience one night under canvas in the local woods.

Booking for the Family Camp Out, which takes place over a weekend in July at Gartmorn Dam Country Park, will be essential.

Councillor Carrick said: "The Countryside Ranger offer a first-class programme of events from April to November. With spring in the air many local families are looking for ways to get out and about and enjoy our beautiful countryside and armed with this new leaflet they can't go wrong."

Copies of the leaflet are available in Council offices or by calling 01259 452478.
