Scotland's Cooking Bus - a colourful, 17 metre long, kitchen on wheels - rolls into Tullibody next week.

On-board lessons will be given to parents, teachers and pupils in how to cook simple healthy meals as well as raise awareness of essential food handling and preparation skills.

Top of the menu is learning about vital food issues like nutrition, recycling and hygiene.

Pupils and staff from three local schools - Abercromby, St Serfs and St Bernadettes -will visit the bus during the week and take part in activities designed to generate real enthusiasm about food in our schools and communities. By engaging with children as early as possible, and understanding the link between food and health it is hoped to prepare our pupils to allow them to make informed choices about what they eat in the future.

Teachers from across Clackmannanshire will also be participating in a separate session to develop a greater understanding of food education.

The Cooking Bus is run by the Scottish Government, the Food Standards Agency Scotland and the Focus on Food Campaign.
