Pupils will be raising the profile of food and nutrition in the county's schools when they attend this weekend's Scottish Food Fest in Alva.
The pupils' stall will highlight the progress that has been made over the past few years to promote health and wellbeing with a specific focus on healthy eating and tuck shops.
There will be a chance for visitors to sample meals and snacks from the menus which are available daily in the county's schools such as popcorn, freshly made bread and fruit kebabs.
The event takes place on Sunday 21st September in the Cochrane Park, Alva, from noon-6pm and has been organised by the Wee County Development Trust.
Kaye Hills, the Council's Health and Well-being Support Officer, said: "Food and nutrition are always in the news and we are pleased to be involved in this event. Visitors will be able to come and see the progress that has been made in the delivery of food and nutrition in schools and its cross-curricular links. Pupils will highlight the innovative approaches taking place in our schools to promote health and wellbeing. There will also be opportunities to engage with our young people and have 'hands-on' experiences in preparing and tasting healthy food choices available in schools."
All schools in Clackmannanshire are part of the Forth Valley Health Promotion Accreditation Scheme. This scheme provides a framework to develop structured, focused approaches to health initiatives, to receive feedback and gain recognition of their achievements.
The Scottish Food Fest will highlight just some of these approaches and activities being undertaken across the county and recognise the good work taking place.
Such approaches are at the heart of a Curriculum for Excellence with the aspiration that all children and young people should be successful learners confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
