No Messin' Live 2008 has been hailed a huge success with 3,500 young people enjoying two days of free fun in the sun.
Tulligarth Community Leisure Complex was packed with young people enjoying over 20 different activities on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
The event was organised by Network Rail in conjunction with Clackmannanshire Council and aims to show young people the many fun alternatives to messing about on the railway. With the Alloa railway now open this message is more important than ever.
Fergus Ewing, Minister for Community Safety, was welcomed to the event on Wednesday by Provost Derek Stewart and Network Rail's Scottish Director Ron MacAulay.
No Messin' Live returned to Alloa this year following the huge success of last year's event which was attended by 3000 young people. Network Rail has recently invested significant amounts of funding in Alloa Boxing Club and Tullibody Wrestling Club as part of their national campaign to offer alternatives to hanging around the railway line.
Provost Derek Stewart said: "No Messin Live was terrific and I was delighted that the Council was able to work in partnership with Network Rail to deliver such a popular event. The enthusiasm of the young people I spoke to on Wednesday was overwhelming and I am sure that they heard the important message about the dangers of hanging about by the rail line while still having a great time. I'd like to thank all the staff, from Network Rail and the Council, for organising such a successful event."
