Clacksweb, Clackmannanshire Council's website, hit a milestone in June when for the first time it received over a million page visits and over two million hits. The popular site, www.clacksweb.org.uk, gives information on Council services as well as community events. 1,175,967 page views were recorded for Clacksweb in June 2008, with 2,768,571 individual hits. The number of unique visitors was also up, to 37,740.

This success comes on top of a recent usability study revealing that Clackmannanshire has the most usable Council website in the UK. The study by consultancy Webcredible puts Clacksweb joint top of the league with Greenwich and Haringey council sites. The report measures sites against guidelines including how easy it is to resize text, find contact details and search the site.

Clackmannanshire Council Web Development Manager Ben Short said, 'It's rewarding to see the site being used - it is much more popular than some sites for much bigger councils. But numbers don't always tell the whole picture: it's important to us to make sure the site is as accessible as possible so that people can find the information they want quickly and easily. To have that confirmed by an independent study is encouraging.'
