Clackmannanshire Council has published on its website a record of Councillors' expenses and allowances in 2007/08. The figures are also available from Finance Services, Greenfield House, at all reasonable times, for inspection free of charge.
Remuneration payments for elected members are determined by reference to Section 11 (14) of the Local Governance (Scotland ) Act 2004 (Remuneration ) Regulations 2007. From May 2007 enhanced payments are made to the Leader of the Council, the Provost and 8 elected members with significant responsibility. The rates are set at levels recommended by the Scottish Local Authorities Remuneration Committee.
Special responsibility allowances are paid to Councillors who hold positions of additional responsibility within the Council. These include Leader of the Council, Leader of the Opposition, Committee Conveners and Vice-Conveners. The rates are set at levels recommended by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (CoSLA).
