Following the celebrations at the weekend to mark Alloa's reconnection to the national rail network, Council Leader Janet Cadenhead has congratulated the efforts of everyone involved.

The festivities began with a spectacular parade through Alloa town centre on Saturday morning. Hundreds of people enjoyed the Clackmannanshire Fayre in Greenfield Park on Saturday afternoon.

Councillor Cadenhead said: "I would like to send a sincere thank you to each and every member of Council staff who contributed to making the Clackmannanshire Fayre such a fantastic day.

"It was wonderful to see so many people in Greenfield Park and there was such a buzz about the town on Saturday.

"The Fayre was a fitting way to celebrate the railway re-opening and it truly was a memorable day.

"And looking at the park today you would never know that the Fayre had taken place - it has been so quickly tidied.

"My wholehearted thanks to the team involved in making this whole event such a resounding success. I know that months of planning went into organising this event, and it was so satisfying to see it all run so smoothly."
