To mark Scottish Biodiversity Week local people are invited to help with woodland management work at Ochil Hills Woodland Park.
Come and join in with the rhodi bashing and clean up work on Sunday 25th May. The event runs from noon - 3pm, with volunteers welcome to come for all or part of the day.
As part of Scottish Biodiversity Week 2008 the Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Partnership and Countryside Rangers are joined by the Fife Air Cadets Conservation Group and the Clackmannanshire Conservation Action Team (CAT) to tackle the rhododendrons at Woodland Park, which is between Alva and Tillicoultry.
"Rhododendrons are an invasive species that, if left unmanaged, crowd out native plants from our woodlands. As part of Scottish Biodiversity Week we will be cutting back areas of rhododendron as part of the wider works to improve Woodland Park," said Guy Harewood, Clackmannanshire's Biodiversity Co-ordinator.
Volunteers should meet at the car park at Woodland Park. Tools will be provided. Sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing are required.
Scottish Biodiversity Week runs from 19th - 25th May. Events are being run throughout Scotland to mark this occasion. For more information visit www.snh.org.uk/biodiversityweek.
