Following the successful progress of the new secondary school developments Clackmannanshire Council has appointed specialist Edinburgh-based property consultants DTZ to sell the Alloa and Alva Academies sites. These are currently being marketed as prime residential development opportunities.

New schools

Proceeds from the sale will go towards supporting the Council's new schools initiative which will see pupils move into the first of the new, state-of-the-art buildings in October of this year.

Council leader Janet Cadenhead said, 'The new secondary schools will offer Clackmannanshire's pupils an unrivalled learning experience. At the same time, opening up these prime sites for development will help to address the demand for new housing in the area. We will favour bids that offer layout and design in keeping with the character of the sites, and which respect the environment and quality of life for current and future residents.'

Careful planning

The present Academies sites are being offered for sale separately and individual planning briefs offering guidance to interested parties have been prepared by TPS Planning Consultants in conjunction with the Council's Planning Department.
