Menstrie to Choose New Public Art

Monday 17th March 2008

Menstrie residents will have a chance to vote on a proposed new piece of public art for the village.

Internationally-renowned sculptor Andy Scott has been asked to come up with ideas for a small sculpture for the village park.

He has created nine different sketches which will be on display in the travelling gallery which will be parked in the Dumyat Centre car park on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. The gallery will be open from 10am-4pm and residents can vote for their preferred design.

Menstrie Community Council asked that the sculpture incorporate a child and a water wheel.

Andy Scott has already been commissioned by Clackmannanshire Council to create three sculptures - the stunning River Spirit at Collylands and Man in Motion at Muirside are enjoyed by hundreds of drivers every day. His third commission is in Alloa's new civic square and will be unveiled when the new rail station opens.
