Job opportunities on Election Day  Bookmark and Share

Immediately prior to all major elections we aim to recruit around two hundred people to assist us with polling and counting duties on election days.

Opportunity Types

  • Presiding Officer - To be responsible for the conduct of the ballot and to run a Polling Station during Polling Day.
  • Polling Clerk - To assist the Presiding Officer at a Polling Station during the hours of poll on election day.
  • Enumerator - To work at the counting of votes cast after the close of poll

Skills Required for Polling staff

  • good Communication Skills
  • general Clerical Skills
  • ability to complete complex paperwork
  • some knowledge of the Election Process
  • ability to understand written Guidance Notes
  • previous experience desirable (essential in the case of Presiding Officers).

Skills Required for Enumerators at the Count:

  • Good number skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
