
Volunteer Centres in Scotland
Volunteer Centres in Scotland exist to involve more people, more effectively in volunteering to help address issues and enchance communities. Volunteer Centre Network Scotland is a network of 36 independent agencies working all over Scotland from 50 local offices. Based in Alloa, the Volunteer Centre Clackmannanshire (VCC) provides services across Clackmannanshire. Our aims
VCC takes any action which makes it easier for people to volunteer and aims to:
- increase the number of people involved in volunteering
- broaden the range of people volunteering
- bring about more positive attitudes to volunteering
- get volunteering better recognised at policy level
- develop the capacity of volunteer involving agencies and volunteers
- be well run, influential and effective, striving for continuous improvement

Services for people interested in volunteering
- information and advice about volunteer opportunities
- a variety of services (information, advice, guidance, preparation) to help people get started in volunteering
- a formal and supported introduction to volunteer engaging agencies
- ongoing support to help people stay involved
- Volunteer Information Point - a computer resource giving volunteers the chance to explore volunteering related websites
Services for volunteer engaging agencies
- training and resources on good volunteering policy and practice
- advice and information on issues affecting volunteering locally and nationally
- direct or indirect support in recruiting volunteers including help with job descriptions, advertising and screening
Services for local authorities, health sectors and other public agencies
- the strategic link to volunteering locally
- infromation on volunteering issues
- assistance with policy formulation and review
Intergenerational Volunteering Project
This project, located within VCC, encourages residents of Alloa South and East, aged 50+, to participate in volunteering activities which involve children and/or young adults. It also recruits volunteers aged 21 and under who wish to volunteer to work with older client groups, as well as providing a service to prospective volunteers who may be housebound or disabled.
Opening hours
The VCC office is open on Mondays from 12 noon to 4.00pm, Tuesdays-Thursdays from 9.00am to 4.00pm, and on Fridays from 9.00am to 2.00pm.
