Dog Fouling
As well as being unsightly, dog fouling presents a real hazard to health. While it must be recognised that the vast majority if dog walkers are responsible and clear up after their pet, there are some who continue to cause offence to residents by failing to clear up after their dog. Indeed some who pick up using dog bags have been seen to then throw the bag away instead of placing it in the bin.
Clackmannanshire Council have installed almost 300 dog fouling bins throughout the county. Dog fouling bags can be obtained, FREE, from
- our offices at Greenfield, Lime Tree House Community Access Points (CAPs), libraries;
- the Animal Welfare Officer;
- your Community Wardens.
So far over 1 million free dog bags have been issued.
Bag it and bin it
It is an offence under the Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003 for an owner to fail to clear up after their dog without good reason. This may leave them liable to a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) - currently £40. While educating dog walkers is the preferred route, Wardens and other authorised Council Officers will issue FPNs if required.
