How do I make a search?

Enter information such as surname, initial, year of burial or cemetery.

SURNAME - Enter the full surname if known. The spelling of surnames can vary over the years (e.g. MacLeod may become McLeod; or Snaddon may become Snadden, Sneddon). Make individual searches for a variation of the surname (e.g. Maclead, then McLeod) or just enter a few characters of the surname (e.g. entering 'Leod' in the surname field will return all Macleods and McLeods; entering 'Sn' in the surname field will return all Snaddons, Sneddons, Snaddens etc).

INITIAL - Most of our burial records are indexed by Surname and First Initial only. Enter the first initial to maximise the possibility of finding the correct record.

YEAR OF BURIAL - You can limit your search if you know the year of death. Alternatively you can narrow the search by adjusting the year range.

ADVANCED SEARCH - Further restrict your search results by selecting the Cemetery, Section and Lair details, where known.

What results will be shown?

DECEASED NAME - In most cases this will be surname and first initial of forename.

DATE OF BURIAL - This can be helpful in identifying the correct record if you already know the date of burial.

LOCATION - Shows the cemetery, section and lair number. The quality of plans vary and do not cover all sections of all cemeteries. We aim to improve the quality of online cemetery plans in the near future.

VIEW - Displays the cemetery record. Scanned images of the burial record book are available for burials between 1866 and November 2005. Click on the image to see the full burial record page in detail. You can zoom in or out, or print out the page. Some records for Dollar Cemetery (pre-1988) will display images of 2 pages, the first being the Certificate of Right of Burial and the second being the details of those buried.
