Youth Justice

Clackmannanshire shares the mission of the Forth Valley Youth Justice Strategy Group to promote a local youth justice system that:
  • Keeps young people safe, meets their needs and assists them in becoming productive members of their community
  • Holds young people accountable for their deeds
  • Where possible enables them to contribute to the recovery of victims and the community.
Clackmannanshire Youth Justice Service supports a youth justice system which:
  • Acknowledges that young people in trouble are young people with needs who have the potential to lead non-offending lifestyles.
  • Identifies individual needs, challenges offending behaviour and attitudes and promotes positive life opportunities.
  • Works with young people in the community with the aim of preventing them being placed in custody.
Clackmannanshire Youth Justice Service:
  • Is first and foremost a Child Care Service, working with Children and Families;
  • Provides a comprehensive risk assessment service in line with Scottish Executive expectations;
  • Delivers a frontline service addressing the needs and deeds of young people in trouble, particularly those who are ‘persistent’ in offending or who participate in high-risk activity;
  • Is working in partnership with other agencies and services linked into the youth justice agenda to deliver the objectives and targets promoted in ‘National Standards for Scotland's Youth Justice Services’, not least the target of a reduction in youth crime of 10% by 2006.
