Contract Standing Orders

Contract Standing Orders

The purpose of Contract Standing Orders is to set clear rules for the procurement of goods, works and services for the Council. The rules should ensure that the Council is fair and accountable in its dealings with contractors and suppliers.

Contract Standing Orders are also intended to ensure that the Council obtains value for money and that it is taking good care of public funds.

Procurement decisions are among the most important decisions officers will make because the money involved is public money and the Council is obliged to ensure that we deliver high quality goods, works and services.

It is the Council’s duty to secure best value in its arrangements, and therefore efficient use of resources is an imperative.

The Council’s reputation is equally important and should be safeguarded from any suggestion of dishonesty or corruption.
